June 13 is International Axe Throwing Day. Axe throwing is a game where you throw an axe at a target. From what I have seen, it's similar to darts but with axes.
Since I am not in the market of giving axes to children, we made felt axes instead and had a lovely time throwing them. The older children (Lincoln, Athena, and Lizzie) made axes for them and the little ones to throw.
I let the kids choose their colors and their method of creating one, and the older kids and I had an interesting conversation about what they thought would fly further.
The younger kids had a lot of fun throwing them. With the help of the older kids, we talked about which axes were flying farther and why. It was a fun introduction to physics!
