August 1 is the beginning of World Breastfeeding Week. It is the first week of August every year, and the slogan this year is Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding.
I feel very passionate about breastfeeding. So much so, that I am considering becoming a lactation consultant when my children hit school aged. I specifically aim to advocate for plus-sized women nursing, as I find that to be lacking.
I have been breastfeeding Jude since he was less than an hour old, and we still, at 14.5 months old, breastfeed. We have breastfed everywhere from the US Capitol Building steps to a ballgame in Toronto and everywhere in between. There is no wrong way to feed your baby, but I am glad that this is the way we chose to go.
Happy Breastfeeding Week to all of you nursing moms out there!
