October 3 is Mean Girls Day. In a line from the popular early 2000 movie, Cady (Lindsay Lohan) says, " On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was" in reference to her crush. It's a silly quote that has picked up a lot of traction in the 15 years since the movie debuted. Thus, October 3rd came to be Mean Girls Day.
If it was Wednesday, we would have worn pink and been done with it, but it's Thursday. Instead, I dressed Jude in a shirt that I felt supported the movie thematically. Besides all of the drama and mean girl behavior, the movie ends with the idea that we are all better if we support each other (especially females). So, Jude wore a shirt that said, "never underestimate the power of women and girls". We wanted to remind the world that we are all better together!
Jude sported his shirt running (literally) all around the Newport Aquarium, so it feels like he really got his message across. He introduced the concept to a mermaid. He ran up to many strangers as I chased him frantically that had the chance to receive his message. He ran so much that I can only assume he was trying to celebrate the holiday in the way that he knew the blog deserved, by showing his shirt to as many people as possible.
